Big news on the Digital DJ front

Last week two huge announcements came down from the major digital DJ software developers.

The first news was the release of Traktor Pro and Traktor Pro Scratch from Native Instruments. Read about it here:

Shortly after this announcement came the news that Serato and Ableton will be partnering on a new project. Read about that here:

Basically what we are seeing here is Native Instruments consolidating their offerings to create a more robust and feature packed piece of digital software. In what could be called a response to this news, the announcement of the Serato+Ableton project will bring timecoded scratch functionality from Serato into Ableton's multitalented music platform.

Personally, I am a heavy user of both Ableton and Traktor. I've played with Serato plenty of times and know that each of these products has distinct strengths and weaknesses. This heated competition between the now two camps will undoubtably produce some interesting results and better products for us digital DJs.

Many people are eager to see how this will play out.
